Skala - resort guide and tourist information

Skala Resort description

Skala Resort Photo

The busy resort of Skala Kefalonia is perpetually growing; you will find everything you need for a fabulous holiday. The beach is excellent long and sandy with plenty of sun beds, umbrellas, water sports, scuba diving, with pools and bars nearby for quick refreshments.
Accommodation here is plentiful, as are the bars, gift shops, restaurants and tavernas. Most of the bars and shops are situated in the main street or just off it, with small children or disabled the less traipsing around the better, especially on a hot day!

Of historical interest there are well-preserved Roman mosaics at the 'Roman villa' sign posts for which can be found all over Skala. Many of the popular excursions around the island start from Skala, such as the island tour and Ithaki are well worth looking at.
Nightlife in Skala is pretty good by Kefalonian standards it's not Ibiza but then this island is primarily for families and couples.
You will find many music bars, which stay open till the last person has left usually until about 3-4am though a few will stay open later. Some of the restaurants have Greek nights, ok, some of these are a bit predictable but usually entertaining.

Mythos Restaurant
A firm favourite with locals & tourists Mythos is a friendly and welcoming restaurant set in a palm tree oasis in the centre of Argostoli.
More information on Skala
The main nightclub is situated on the road out of Skala towards Poros and is a big open-air affair called the cave (Spilio's club). Well worth the visit for clubbers the price of admission includes a drink. Here you can dance to Greek music and club music outside under the stars and moon, it is enjoyable, and fun even if only to sit and watch.
If you don't have transport getting a taxi back from there is near on impossible- book in advance but nothing is guaranteed this is Greece remember!

Skala the Good
Popular destination for many holidaymakers of all ages, the beach has a blue flag award with all the facilities. Quite good for shopping some clothes seem to be very cheap. There are numerous bars, tavernas and restaurants, offering value for money and something for everyone.

Skala the Bad
Sun beds are expensive to rent, the nearest Bank is in the next resort of Poros. Because it is a tourist resort it doesn't have the charm and character of a less touristy area. That isn't to say it hasn't a character of its own though - far from it!
